Owl City
Hello, my name is Adam. I prefer daydreams over reality. Music is my muse. I write and record in my basement. I have trouble sleeping. These songs are all I have to show for my sleepless nights.

Blind Pilot
Israel Nebeker and Ryan Dobrowski are Blind Pilot. Friends since college, Israel and Ryan have traveled many a mile to get where they are today - literally. Last year Israel and Ryan embarked on a West Coast bike tour. This wasn't a tour where they road bikes, and had a van hauling the equipment. They hauled everything on their bikes. No gas. 100% leg powered.

King Khan & The Shrines
Who is this manic Master of Ceremonies who openly confesses to the two grand black bohemians said to be lunatic Sun Ra and George Clinton, and whose stagings certainly remind us of a young Herman Sonny Blount and his Solar Arkestra? In 1995 Khan leaves the frosty soil of the city of Montreal playing the bass for the International-Underground-Legends THE SPACESHITS. The band is produced by Mike Mariconda with a special guest appearance from the Fabulous Andy G (Devil Dogs).

Shearwater
Hailed as "almost impossibly majestic and beautiful" (NPR "album of the year"), Shearwater's Palo Santo (2007, Matador), a suite of ethereal but oddly disquieting art-rock songs loosely centered around the life and death of singer Christa Paffgen (aka Nico), marked the Texan quartet's debut on the national stage.

Sun Kil Moon
After dissolving his previous band, Red House Painters, singer/songwriter Mark Kozelek resurfaced with Sun Kil Moon, refining and expanding the luminous acoustic balladry and harrowingly intimate lyricism that are the hallmarks of his career to date.

Bon Iver
Bon Iver (pronounced: bohn eevair; French for "good winter" and spelled wrong on purpose) is a greeting, a celebration and a sentiment. It is a new statement of an artist moving on and establishing the groundwork for a lasting career. For Emma, Forever Ago is the debut of this lineage of songs. As a whole, the record is entirely cohesive throughout and remains centered around a particular aesthetic, prompted by the time and place for which it was recorded. Justin Vernon, the primary force behind Bon Iver, seems to have tested his boundaries to the maximum, and in doing so has managed to break free from any pre-cursing or finished forms.

Viva Voce
Kevin and Anita Robinson formed Viva Voce (pronounced VEE-vah-VOH-chay, Italian for "by word of mouth") in their native Muscle Shoals, AL, in 1998. Heeding the call of the woods, they relocated to Portland, OR, in 2001. Fuzzed out psych excursions, eminently infectious melodies, hand-clap break downs, and star-shine vocal harmonizing (often all in the same song) belie an underlying deftness of arrangement and composition.

John Vanderslice
John wrote the bulk of his most recent album, emerald city, while knee-deep in legal limbo after a visa application for his girlfriend, a French national he met in Paris, was rejected by US Immigration. The songs and themes are fueled by an era of deep insecurity and paranoia; they develop in front of a backdrop of ritualized and mythologized current events.

St. Vincent
Two years ago, Annie Clark's recorded debut as St. Vincent, "Marry Me," gave immediate notice that a dizzying new talent had emerged from the flatlands of Texas. Critics from all points of the cultural compass-from Pitchfork to Spin to the New York Times Magazine-were entranced by the album's precocious arrangements and elegant lyrics, and the steadily growing crowds at St. Vincent's live shows were astonished by Clark's gargantuan musical chops and her magnetic stage presence.

The Wrens
The wrens' first tour's first show is in Omaha, Nebraska playing to an overwhelming five-person crowd that includes Robb, Conor, and Todd of the as-yet-unfounded Saddle Creek label/scene (Conor and Todd of Bright Eyes and the Faint respectively). The wrens and the creek become friends, and over the next few years play many shows together, have many sleepovers, and later issue a split 7" w/ Park Ave on their Saddle Creek label.

The Airborne Toxic Event
Formed in 2006, The Airborne Toxic Event has quickly become the darling of its native Los Angeles. The five-piece indie rock band, named after a section of the book White Noise by Don DeLillo, began with just one member, novelist Mikel Jollett. Bombarded with a fistful of bad news, he was inspired to turn his attention from writing prose to writing songs. Four band members later, Airborne had created a harmony of string instruments, keyboards and a standard rock lineup of guitar, drums, and bass.

M83
For most of us, our teenage years were an awkward time full of embarrassing moments we'd rather forget. For M83's chief star-gazer Anthony Gonzalez, however, his adolescence turned out to be the most important period of his life, one he looks back upon with great affection. Now, he's made it the defining theme of his enchanting new album, Saturdays=Youth.

of Montreal
of Montreal is many things. of Montreal is one of the stalwarts of the Athens, Georgia pop scene. of Montreal is the recording and performing project of one Mr. Kevin Barnes. And of Montreal is one of the many bands still in operation with a tie to the loose Elephant Six collective of the late '90s, a group of like-minded bands centered around that incredibly fertile Southern college town. of Montreal is not, however, predictable.

Black Moth Super Rainbow
A notoriously enigmatic band hailing from Pennsylvania, Black Moth Super Rainbow made waves on the indie circuit in the early 2000s with their brand of otherworldly, psychedelic indie pop. The project began in Pittsburgh in 2002, and expanded to include five members (Tobacco, the Seven Fields of Aphelion, Power Pill Fist, Iffernaut, and Father Hummingbird) in the following year.

Bishop Allen
Bishop Allen is an American indie rock band based in Brooklyn, New York, composed of drummer Jack Delamitraux, guitarist Justin Rice, and guitarist Christian Rudder. Vocal duties are shared among the band's members. Bishop Allen, formed by Rudder and Rice who met while attending Harvard University, grew out of the pair's more humerous punk venture The Pissed Officers. During the spring of 2003 the pair recorded all of the instrumentation for their debut album, Charm School.

Blitzen Trapper
Furr is the fourth record by Portland sextet Blitzen Trapper and the follow-up to last year's highly acclaimed Wild Mountain Nation. Written in the gaps of the group's frenetic touring schedule and recorded mostly in a hoary old telegraph building close by the Willamette River, the new record refines and expands on the far-ranging yet distinctive songcraft that lies at the heart of Blitzen Trapper's unique appeal.

Monotonix
Dissatisfied with the state of the music scene in their hometown of Tel Aviv, the Israeli trio Monotonix formed in November of 2005 with the mission of redefining the rock show. The band, consisting of singer Ami Shalev, guitarist Yonatan Gat, and drummer Haggai Fershtman, channel riff heavy influences Led Zeppelin, the Sonics, and Thin Lizzy to create raw, driving rock & roll. Shortly after forming, they would accomplish their mission in Tel Aviv, defying the expectations of what a rock show should be there.

These four sensitive gentlemen of instrumental rock describe their band as a close but dysfunctional family who have been financially unstable. Austin, Texas has been their home base for several years, allowing them to become allies with bands such as the very beautiful American Analog Set, the completely awe inspiring Lift To Experience, and the sonically destructive And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead.
